Mutual aid that fosters our community in the Hudson Valley & beyond
The Shared Plate Funding Circle has a simple goal: to offer ‘no-strings attached’ financial support to those doing BIG things to foster community flourishing in the Mid-Hudson Valley & beyond.
During winter months our capacity to fund new projects is limited.
Ideal candidates for Shared Plate funding are groups/individuals who identify as local artists, activists, change-makers, care-givers, land-tenders and any or all spending their time graciously weaving joy, justice and stability into their communities.
The Share Plate Funding Circle supports organizations like Grow Black Hudson, Abundance farms, Greater Hudson Promise, Feed the Belly, Columbia County Sanctuary Movement, NYC migrant support by La Morada, Community Fridges in Hudson, Philmont & Catskill and Taghkanic, Kite’s Nest, Sweet Freedom Farm, and more.
Funds are gathered and shared in a
simple way:
First, three of Columbia County’s favorite restaurants, Lil’ Deb’s Oasis Hudson, NY, Kitty’s Hudson, NY, Gaskins Germantown, NY add 69, 60 and 50 cents, respectively, to each menu item for Shared Plate Funding Circle. Each month these additional cents are pooled together for distribution.
Second, Shared Plate’s collective of local organizers, artists, farmers and activists gather to distribute funds based on two criteria:
1) the level of immediate/urgent need for funding, 2) the scope of the goal oriented project or presently running program.
Third, Shared Plate connects with the recipient's fiscal sponsor or provides a supporting sponsor and sends the funds. Together we can do so much!
